Chandigarh (Face2News) The Cooperation Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa while chairing a meeting today of all the Regional Officers of the department at Markfed headoffice instructed the Deputy Registrars of all the districts to channelize all their energies on the financial resuscitation of the cooperative societies. On the occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, Cooperation, Mr. Viswajeet Khanna who also holds the charge of Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture, said that Markfed and IFFCO jointly supply the 50 percent fertilizers through the cooperation department where as in the distribution of agricultural chemicals this share comes down to less than 10 percent. That makes it important that the top quality agricultural chemicals manufactured by the international companies and accredited by the PAU which are in great demand by the farmers must be made available through Markfed to the cooperative societies along with the products manufactured by the Markfed. The Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Punjab, Mr. Vikas Garg while instructing the regional officers said that proper arrangements must be made to ensure availability of eatables and new animal feed manufactured by Markfed such as Markfed 500, Markfed 800 to the cooperative societies so as to make sure that the farmers who are members of the societies have access to these at the affordable prices in the villages. The MD, Markfed Mr. Varun Roojam on the occasion added that the condition of the cooperative societies is bound to improve after the availability of markfed products and better sales process. The agricultural machinery being distributed through subsidy to the cooperative societies was also reviewed In the meeting. Laying special emphasis on sowing of wheat through happy seeder, the regional officers were exhorted to ensure availability of these machines to the farmers through the societies.
