PUNJAB INFORMATION COMMISSION BLACLISTS 19 CITIZESNS SO FAR TO USE THEIR RIGHT TO INFORMATION

 Punjab Information Commission has Blacklists total 19 Citizens till now to use their Right to Information. While Supreme Court of India confirms in its various decision that Right to Information is a fundamental rights of Indian Citizens, Punjab Information Commission has blacklisted total 19 citizens to use their Right to Information under the RTI Act 2005. Constitutional Courts are silent on this issue hence number of blacklisted citizens are increasing day to day in addition to attack on RTI Activists.

RTIFed President S.M. Bhanot states that these are illegal in the eye of law.  He said State information commission Punjab illegally curtailed constitutional rights of information seeker. 17 out of the 19 cases of Blacklisted or Debarred or restricted RTI Activists by the State Information Commission, Punjab are by one Information Commissioner Mr. Yasvir Mahajan alone, who has run riot in banning the RTI Activists. 

RTI Activists of Punjab who's names appear in th list are: Gurdeep Singh Dhongi of Dhuri,  Jaspreet Singh of Ropar

Amarjit Singh Samiti of Ludhiana, 04. Vidya Sagar of Ludhiana, Darshan Singh Kang of Samrala, 06. H.S.Hundal of Mohali, Harminder Singh of Mohali,  Jarnail Singh of Ludhiana, Harpal Singh of Khaani, Karamjit Singh of Kharar,  Manjit Singh of Patiala,  Shekhar Arvind Sonkar of Pune, Vishal Goyal of Bathinda, Normal Singh Dhiman of Mohali, Nazar Singh of Ludhiana, Rajinder Singh Panwar of Uttrakhand.

Mr. Bhanot said, not alone in Punjab, this is the sad state of affairs at the Information Commissions across the country and the RTI Activists are being targeted for exposing corruption prevalent in the maleficent public authorities. 

This is, clearly, in violation and of the contravention of the Right to Freedom of Expression and Speech granted by Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution of India, for which commission had no authority to act. 

The 16 (of the 19, as three of them appears twice in the list) RTI Activists of Punjab who's names appear in the list are - Four from Ludhiana, Three from Mohali, One each from Dhuri, Ropar, Samrala, Khumano, Bathinda, Kharar and Patiala all from Punjab. There are two Information Seekers from outside Punjab- One from Uttrakhand and One from Pune (Maharashtra).
