INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY CELEBRATED AT PANJAB UNIVERSITY

The 70th International Human Rights Day was celebrated by Centre for Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University by putting up a stall at the Student Centre.

The stall was set up for creating legal awareness regarding the rights of students. It was to generate human rights awareness amongst University students by the research scholars of Centre for Human Rights and Duties.

The centre also runs a Human Rights Volunteer Cell for Para Legal Services which function as a legal aid clinic established in collaboration with Chandigarh State Legal Services Authority in 2012. The main objectives of the cell is to spread legal literacy, organise legal aid camps, conduct surveys for identifying legal problems and to train the para legal volunteers (PLVs). It is also the nodal cell to look into the issues and concerns confronting north-eastern students of Panjab University.
