CBI ARRESTS AN ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF EPFO FOR ACCEPTING BRIBE OF Rs. FIVE LAKH

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today arrested an Enforcement Officer, Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), Vadodara (Gujarat) for demanding & accepting bribe of Rs five lakh from the complainant.

CBI has registered a case U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against an Enforcement Officer, EPFO, Vadodara on the allegations of demanding illegal gratification of Rs. 20 lakh from a builder in Vadodara for passing favourable order in the matter of regular employees of the builder for which PF was to be deposited and for clearing the Notice issued by EPFO. After negotiation, the accused reduced his demand to Rs. 10 lakh and agreed to accept 1st installment of Rs. 5 lakh. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting a bribe of Rs. 5 lakh. Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused, which led to recovery of Rs. 4 lakh so far.
