CBI ARRESTS SHO MAULI JAGRAN AND CONSTABLE RED HANDED ACCEPTING BRIBE

The Central Bureau of Investigation  (CBI) reported to have arrested SHO Inspector Baljit Singh and constable  Surinder Rathi of Police Station Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh accepting bribe  of Rs. 45 thousands here on Monday. 

CBI laid a trap and caught the Constable red handed while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs.45,000/- on behalf of SHO. Searches  were  conducted at the residential and official premises of the accused. CBI team took them to CBI Head Quarter in Sector 30 Chandigarh. Both the arrested accused will be produced tomorrow before the CBI Special Judge in Chandigarh.

A case was registered on 28.01.2019 under section 7 of PC Act & Section 120-B of IPC against SHO and Constable on a complaint alleging that nephew of the complainant & other persons were detained in the said Police Station on the allegations of dealing with contraband goods and also stated to have recovered 2-3 packets of Charas from them.

It was further alleged that SHO threatened and demanded a bribe of Rs.1,20,000/- in lieu of not registering case against them. The bribe amount was re-negotiated and reduced to Rs.55,000/-.
