CRACK DOWN ON DRUG PEDDLERS, POLICE SEIZED 70 THOUSANDS BANNED MEDICINES WORTH 8 LACS IN SIRSA

In yet another crackdown on drug peddlers, Haryana Police have seized 70,200 banned medicines worth Rs 8 lakh approximately in the international market and 160 gram opium in district Sirsa. Police has also arrested two persons who were in possession of the prohibited drugs in the district.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that on getting specific information about smuggling of banned medicine, a team of Crime Investigation Agency had put barricades near Ding mor, Sirsa and signaled a car coming from Fatehabad side to stop. When searched, 351 boxes having a total of 70,200 tablets of Tramadol, a prohibited pharma drug, were recovered from the vehicle.

The arrested accused was identified as Amandeep, a resident of Ding mandi. Initial inquiry revealed that these intoxicant tablets were to be supplied in Ding, Sirsa and Badagudha areas. The accused would be taken on remand by producing in the court so that involvement of others could be unearthed.

In another incident, a team of Crime Investigation Agency had also arrested a person carrying 160 gram opium from Sirsa bus stand area. The arrested accused was identified as Sujeet Kumar, a resident of Gaya in Bihar. He said that Police also enquiring about the name of suppliers from the accused and efforts were being made to nab them. Cases under NDPS Act have been registered against them and further investigation was on, he added.
