INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY: YOUNG WOMEN OF HOSTEL HONOURED

“Each Time a Women Stands Up for Herself, She Stands Up for All Women.” This is what the young dynamic women of Sarojini Hall (Girls Hostel-3) conveyed admiringly to other women as they celebrated the International Women’s Day on March 8th, 2019 in the hostel.

Prof. Neena Caplash and Prof. Emanual Nahar, DSWs, Panjab University, Chandigarh, graced this event as Chief Guests. The programme commenced with a welcome speech by the Warden, GH-3, Dr. Ravneet Kaur. She also made a cheerful announcement about the installation of Sanitary pad vending and disposal machines in hostel premises on this occasion. Sanitory napkins were distributed amongst the residents and a workshop was organized on women health, sanitation and cervical cancer by the members of “Project We”, a group of students from Department of Chemical Engineering, P.U. Chandigarh. Dr. Archana Chauhan, shared the know-how of the sanitary napkin incinerator machine with the audience.

Young and dynamic residents of Sarojini Hall (GH3) were honored and given a token of appreciation for their valuable contributions in organizing and managing various events in the hostel for the session 2018-19. Baljeet, Sita and Chozin were honoured for organizing inauguration of Herbal garden in GH3, Bandu, Manisha and Era organized Freshers party, Gitanjali, Priyanshi, Yamini, Riya Annet, Saloni, Harjot, Monika, Sachkiran, Pooja, Jagjeet, Amanpreet organised various special days like Animal Day, Healthy Food Day, Women's Day and festivals like Guru Nanaks Birthday, Diwali, Christmas, Lohri etc. In all nineteen residents of hostel were honoured.

 Prof. Neena Caplash exchanged her insightful views on International Women's Day 2019 campaign theme, “Balance for Better”. She said, Women’s day is a day of self-realization and self-motivation for every woman. Men and women both have their respective equal roles on professional and personnel grounds and they should complement each other in order to make themselves better. The function was concluded with a cake cutting bash and vote of thanks, rendered by hostel warden, Dr. Ravneet Kaur.
