NO WATER COLOURS TO BE USED IN HOLI CELEBERATIONS

March 13. Keeping in view insufficient rainfall last year in  Gujarat and Pulwama killings of 40 CRPF men, the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha has decided to celebrate the Pushpadolostsav-Holi festival in a simple manner. 

Since the time of Bhagwan Swaminarayan, the holy village of Sarangpur (District Botad) has been renowned for the Rangotsav festival. In memory of the joyous, divine Rangotsav festivals were celebrated  here by Bhagwan Swaminarayan, the BAPS annually celebrates the Holiand Pushpadolotsav festivals. This year the festival will be
celebrated on Thursday, March 21 in Sarangpur.

 International Convener of the NGO, Ishwarcharan Swami, said on Wednesday, “Whether it is drought or earthquake relief work or support for the martyred soldiers of Pulwama, under the instructions of Pramukh Swami Maharaj ex spiritual chief and, present incumbent Mahant Swami  Maharaj, the BAPS has led by example.

“In view of the drought, to save water, the Pushpadolotsav festival in Sarangpur on March 21 will be celebrated in the presence of Mahant Swami Maharaj without using water and the BAPS will demonstrate its  support for the government’s initiative to save water, he said.

The unique festival attracts about one lakh Indians and NRIs each year. Keeping rich traditions high, colour water is sprinkled only on  male devotees by the BAPS chief using remote-controlled pichkaris.Thousands of people had got advance registration to participate in the celebrations this year.

The BAPS had earlier organised prayers in all temples and contributed Rs one crore to the families of martyred CRPF men.
