BSF PERSONNEL SEIZED 1.690 KG HEROIN IN FEROZEPORE SECTOR,ONE SMUGGLER HELD . TWO PAK SMUGGLERS FLEE BACK TO PAKISTAN

Border Security Force (BSF) personnel reported to have seized two packet of contraband heroin weighing 1.690 kg valuing more than 7 crores in international market. 

BSF Spokesman, said on Monday Morning Border Security Force troops apprehended one Indian National andseized 02 packets of contraband (Weight Approx-1.690 KG) suspected to be heroin in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post L S Wala, Ex-29 Bn BSF, Sector Ferozepur.

Keeping in view the vulnerability of Border and heightened activities of smugglers/ Anti National Elements, Sh Mahipal Yadav, IPS, Inspector General BSF Punjab Frontier has issued operational guidelines to all the Sectors under Punjab Frontier for further strengthening the border domination so as to effectively check the activities of Anti - National Elements.

Accordingly Officiating Deputy Inspector General, Sector BSF Ferozepur directed Field  Commanders to maintain extra vigil on border to thwart the attempts of Anti- National Elements. Tactical Operations are being mounted to foil the attempts of the smugglers/ Anti-National Elements. On 14 April 2019 at about 2210 hrs, on duty BSF troops noticed suspicious movement of two Pak smugglers ahead of Border Security Fence in area of responsibility of Border Out Post L S Wala, Ex-29 Bn BSF. At the same time, movement of 02-03 persons was also observed on own side of Border Security Fence.

After assessing the situation, alert BSF troops immediately took position and kept watch on the suspicious movement of smugglers on both sides. At about 150100 hrs, when the Pak smugglers reached close to the fence and started throwing something over it, BSF troops challenged them to stop but the smugglers did not pay any heed. Hence to stop their further misadventure and in self- defence, BSF troops opened fire.

However, Pak smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of grown wheat crops and darkness. However, when the Indian smugglers tried to escape and hide themselves in the fields on Indian side, BSF troops immediately cordoned the area and managed to apprehend  one Indian smuggler namely Kashmir Singh s/o Thakur Singh r/o Old Barreke, PS- Sadar Ferozepur, Distt- Ferozepur.

During search, BSF troops recovered and seized 02 packets of contraband (approx. 1.690 Kgs) suspected to be heroin near the Border Security Fence.
