Punjab and Haryana Highcourt Advocate Mr. H.C.Arora on Sunday, wrote to Punjab Chief Secretary  demanded for changing the name of “Chandigarh University” to avoid confusion arising out of similarity in name with Punjab University, Chandigarh.

In his communication to Chief Secretary of Punjab Govt.,  Advocate Mr. H.C.Arora, apprised him of media reports regarding similarity of university names.

Mr. Arora wrotes  "You may kindly appreciate that Panjab University is functioning since times immemorial, whereas the Chandigarh University is a  private University , and is a recent creation  of “The Chandigarh University Act.” I am not disputing that Chandigarh University has earned a lot of reputation during last few years, but that can not be a ground for continuing confusion due to resemblance in the names of the two Universities, more so because both Universities are situated at a very short distance, and while the Private University, which is situated near Chandigarh, has incorporated  the word “Chandigarh” as a part of its name, the Punjab University is situated at Chandigarh proper"

Mr. Arora urges Chief Secretary to intervene and redress the confusion between two universitiers.
