A delegation led by former MLA from Khadoor Sahib constituency, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura on Friday met senior police officials in Taran Taran to get justice to a baptized woman who was allegedly beaten up, torn her clothes and insulted her religious sentiments by a Congress sarpanch and his wife. 
The woman Bhupinder Kaur W/O Sher Singh from village Sangatpura in  Khadoor Sahib on Thursday allegedly that she was beaten up by Gurtej Singh,  Congress sarpanch of the village and his wife Satnam Kaur while she was grazing her cattle on the side of water distributory in the village.
“Gurtej Singh used abusing language, beaten me up and also tried to tear my clothes besides insulting my religious signs as I am a baptized woman. I had on Thursday given a written complaint to SHO Chohla Sahib against the husband – wife, but now the police say that as he is a congress Sarpanch, it is helpless to take any action against them,” alleged the woman who was Friday met senior leaders of SAD (Taksali) to get justice.
The woman has claimed that the incident took place in some eye witnesses including former sarpanch of the village.
“I went to the police station Chohla Sahib, and on Friday we tried to meet senior superintendent of police Taran Taran. But as he was not available due to holiday, we have handed over the complaint of the woman to DSP City Tarn Taran  in this regarding. We demand an action against the accused as per the law, but police seems to reluctant to take any action against the congress party Sarpanch,” said Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, former MLA who accompanied the woman to the police office.
“If no action is taken, we shall approach even DGP and other senior police officials. We are also prepared to approach Akal Takhat Sahib to seek justice for the Baptized woman as the accused have insulted her religious sentiments by dragging away her Sri Sahib and dislodging her Dastar (turban). If police takes no action against the accused, we shall also sit on stage protests,” said Ravinder Singh Brahmpura.
“I spoke to the SHO Chohla Sahib on Thursday seeking action on my complaint, but he told me that he can not take any action against a congress Sarpanch. But I shall not sit silently without having the accused booked,” the complainant alleged.
