PUNJAB VIGILANCE NABS ETO, FIRE STATION OFFICER FOR TAKING BRIBES IN TWO DIFFERENT CASES

State Vigilance Bureau today nabbed Excise & Taxation Officer (ETO) and Fire Station Officer red handed while accepting bribes in two different cases.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Amardeep Singh Nanda, ETO posted at ward-53, division-3 in Ludhiana district was nabbed red handed by Vigilance team for accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000 from complainant Umesh Kumar of Agar Nagar in Ludhiana district.

The Complainant has approached the VB that the above said ETO was demanding Rs. 5 lakh to exempt his firm for cancelling GST number.

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ETO was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs. 50,000/- as a first installment from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at EOW Wing VB police station Ludhiana and further investigations was under progress.

In another bribery case the VB today nabbed Fire Station Officer Ajay Goyal posted at Fire Brigade office Kapurthala red handed on the complaint of Harman Walia. The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused Fire Station Officer was demanding Rs 10,000 to get approval from higher authorities for issuing NOC to his petrol Pump.

After verifying his information, the vigilance team laid a trap and the accused Fire Station Officer was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs. 10,000/- in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Jalandhar and further investigation was under progress.
