CFI FELICITATES INDIAN JUNIOR CYCLISTS

Cycling Federation of India felicitated Indian junior cyclists in a grand ceremony here in Delhi today. India  won four gold, four silver and two bronze and topped the medal tally beating world top riders of China, Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan and 22 countries of Asia, in the recently held Asian Track Cycling Championships 2019 held in Jakarta, Indonesia. 

On the occasion, Harbhajan Singh, Director, Honda Motors and Scooters Pvt. Ltd. announced a prize money of 1 lakh each to gold medalist, Rs 75,000 to silver and Rs 50,000 each to bronze medalist. They also announced to support with cycles for Indian cyclists. 

The Cycling Federation of India after having a very successful and eventful year is now starting this cycling season with a positive note. To carry on the achievement of the last year and to keep up the momentum, Indian Junior Cycling team with two coaches are proceeding to Germany for three month training cum competition program. This team will be undergoing rigorous training under Chief Coach Mr. R K Sharma before they participate in the Junior Track World Cycling Championships to be held at Frankfurt from 15th to 19th Aug. 2019. 

 On the occasion Mr. Onkar Singh, Secretary General informed that normally Ministry selects only senior players under the TOP Scheme but on the request of Cycling Federation of India, Ministry agreed to give assistance to four junior cyclists under the TOP Scheme.

On the eve of the send off to the team, where Mr. Harbhajan Singh, Director, HMSI and Mr. Vineet Aggarwal, partner, T 10 Sports were the guest of honor. Mr. Onkar Singh said “since the ACTC plans are pending with the SAI and MoYAS and this program was planned well ahead, we are thankful to HMSI, who had supported the Federation in their venture, which was essentially very important for the riders under our yearly training program. 

HMSI has always been supporting us be it Exposure, training or equipments and we owe this success to them. The SAI has also been with us in our mission of excellence and we do hope together will achieve our goal of 2024 Olympic. I also thank T 10 Sports for being our apparel partner and providing World class sports kit to our riders”.
