Official Wheat Procurement to end on May 25

More than 95% of the wheat stock procured by Government agencies, lifted

Faridkot, Kapurthala, Patiala, Sangrur, SAS Nagar and Mansa Front-runners with having lifted 99% stocks

During the ongoing wheat procurement season which officially culminates on May 25, 2019, the lifting of procured wheat from the mandis is going on smoothly, informed an official spokesman of Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Department. He added that more than 95% of the wheat stock procured by Government agencies has already been lifted in the State with Bathinda, Faridkot, Kapurthala, Patiala, Sangrur, SAS Nagar, Mansa having lifted 99% stocks.

Making an appeal to the farmers to bring their produce to the grain markets at the earliest, the spokesperson said that the Department of Food has made arrangements for total procurement of 132 LMT. He said that 8.20 lac farmers in the State have benefited from the procurement of wheat, so far. More than 20000 crores payment has been released by the state procuring agencies till May 22, 2019.
