PROCESS TO GIVE ABANDONED BABY TO ELIGIBLE COUPLE INITIATED

The administration and Faridkot based NGO have initiated the process to give the first new-born baby that was abandoned in the “Palna” (cradle) in the Civil Hospital here. 

Nar Sewa Narayan Sewa had in 2017 developed cradle. The NGO responded to the appeal made by the then Deputy Commissioner Isha Kalia (Now DC Hoshiarpur) and SDM Poonam Singh to develop cradle to save un-wanted babies. Since then 3 babies were found abandoned but none was left by their parents in the cradle. 

Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Manpreet Singh Chhatwal reached here to initiate the process for adaption of the baby. Child Welfare Committee member (legal) Manoj Tripathi prepared a report. Shri Radha Dham Adaption Agency from Faridkot staff reached here, its manager Subhash Chander accepted the baby and said she would be taken care for two months, a couple will be then allowed to adopt the baby.   

The staff in the Civil Hospital rushed as alarm alerted on abandoning of baby. Paediatrician Dr Sahib Ram found the female baby about 2-day old and weight was 2.5 kg that indicated the new born was normal.

Civil Surgeon Dr Daler Singh Multani and SDM Poonam Singh arrived in the hospital. Poonam said the awareness campaign launched through NGOs brought success after about two years. She named the baby “Manjra” hoping she would always keep smiling.
