UNION HEALTH MINISTRY SANCTIONED RS. 500 CRORES FOR THE SETTING UP OF PGI SATELLITE CENTRE IN FEROZEPUR

In a major development, the High Power Committee of Union Health Ministry has sanctioned the PGI Project during a meeting held today. Giving this information, Parminder Singh Pinki MLA Ferozepur said that the decision was taken during the high level meeting attended by Health Secretary Preeti Sudan, Jagat Ram Director PGI, Samir Aggarwal senior official from Orthopedic wing and officials from the engineering branch at New Delhi.

Pinki said that with this decision, the long pending demand of the residents of this border town will be fulfilled and now they will not have to go anywhere else for better treatment.

Earlier, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had taken up the matter with the Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Wardhan during his meeting with later in Delhi in July this year.

In February, the state government had approved to transfer 25 acres land belonging to Horticulture Department situated in Village Malwal Kadim to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare ( MOHFW) for setting up of this 100 bedded Centre. Later, the proposal was placed before the Governing Body of the PGIMER Chandigarh during which board approved the same and decided to prepare a detailed report on the project for further submission to the MOHFW.

Deputy Commissioner mR.Chander Gaind said that setting up of PGI Satellite Centre will give a major boost to the healthcare services in this border area.
