FULL COURT REFERENCE HELD IN HIMACHAL HIGHCOURT TO BID FAREWELL V.RAMASUBRAMANIAN

A full Court reference was held today in the High Court to bid farewell to Shri V.Ramasubramanian, Hon’ble the Chief Justice, on his elevation as Judge of the Supreme Court of India. Born on June 30, 1958, he passed B.Sc from Vivekananda College in Chennai.

After graduating in Law from the Madras Law College, he was enrolled as a Member of the Bar on February 16, 1983. He practiced for almost 23 years in High Court of Madras, City and Small Causes Court, State Consumer Commission & District Consumer Forum, Central and State Administrative Tribunals, Chennai, in Civil and Constitutional matters and specialized in service matters.

Chief Justice  said that work becomes a pleasure, if we have a passion for the same and we should live life to fullest instead of considering life to be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely. He said that his posting to this High Court as Chief Justice gave him three full months of existence filled with life, in contrast to a life that he lived merely as a matter of existence earlier and this Dev Bhumi where nature dances to the tunes of spiritual hymns gives a lot of energy, which will help him to lead the life ahead, also worthliving.

 He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Madras High Court on July 31, 2006 and as a permanent Judge on November 9, 2009. He was transferred on his own request to the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad for the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh with effect from April 27, 2016. After the bifurcation and the creation of a separate High Court for the State of Andhra Pradesh, he was retained as a Judge of the High Court of Telangana at Hyderabad w.e.f. January 1, 2019. He was sworn in as the Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court on 22nd June, 2019.

The Registrar General Sh. Virender Singh conducted the proceedings.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble the Chief Justice Mr. V.Ramasubramanian said that he had never thought that he would receive a farewell within three months of welcome. He said that he enjoyed every bit of his tenure in this High Court, which was made possible only by a perfect work culture of his colleagues, the members of the Bar and the members of the Staff.

He recited the immortal poem of Pablo Neruda titled “Die Slowly” thus inspiring all to adopt a different attitude towards life, i.e. live life not just breathe. He whooped that this place made him come alive without extracting an effort far greater than the simple fact of breathing. He thanked his brother judges, members of the Bar, Judicial Officers, Officers and officials of the Registry for their affection and co-operation apart from those who spoke on the occasion.

On this occasion, Hon’ble Mr.Justice Sh.Dharam Chand Chaudhary said that this High Court has proved to be a spring board for another Chief Justice to take a high jump and reach in the highest Court of the nation. He praised Justice Ramasubramanian for his legal acumen, erudition, oratorical skills, simplicity and courteousness. He said that Justice Ramasubramanian is a brilliant and complete Judge, multi-talented person, a great visionary, a man with impeccable character who undertakes every job, small or big, with passion, commitment and conscience with honesty of purpose. He said that Justice Ramasubramanian possesses extra-ordinary intellect and a desire to decide even the most complex and difficult issues, which is reflected in his judgments. Justice Chaudhary , on behalf of the Bench and High Court Registry, congratulated and wished Justice Ramasubramanian, success to write a glorious chapter in the history of the apex Court during his tenure there.

Ld. Advocate General of Himachal Pradesh Shri Ashok Sharma, Chairman of Bar Council of Himachal Pradesh Shri Ramakant Sharma, President of HP High Court Bar Association Shri Rajiv Jiwan, and Assistant Solicitor General of India Shri Rajesh Sharma also spoke on the occasion and praised Justice V.Ramasubramanian in glowing terms, especially for his sense of humour and his soft behaviour in the Court, and extended their good wishes to him.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Sureshwar Thakur, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ajay Mohan Goel, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sandeep Sharma, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia, Hon’ble Mr.Justice Anoop Chitkara and Hon’ble Ms.Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua and their respective spouses were also present on this occasion.

Former judges of High Court of Himachal Pradesh, Justice A.K.Goel, Justice Kuldip Singh, Justice D.D.Sud, Justice V.K. Sharma and Justice P.S. Rana, President, H.P. State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, were also present on the occasion.

Poonam Mahajan, Members of Bar Association and employees of High Court Registry were present on the occasion.

After Full Court reference, Guard of Honour was also given to Hon’ble the Chief Justice Shri V.Ramasubramanian.
