EASTEND CLUB AT MAIN CHANDIGARH ROAD - HUGE FINANCIAL LOSS OF PUBLIC MONEY & INCONVENIENCE TO PEOPLE AT LARGE: TEAM TACFI

The Anti-Corruption Federation of India  (Regd.) ((TACFI)) an NGO through their Spokesman-person has submitted one representation to Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Housing & Urban Development, Punjab with request to change the location of Eastend Club planned to constructed at main Chandigarh Road, opposite Vardhman Textile Industries at Ludhiana.

The copy of representation has also been sent to the Chief Secretary Punjab, Minister of Housing & Development, Punjab as well as Chief Administrator PUDA & GLADA & DTP Ludhiana.

TACFI informed that the land measuring 2.97 Acres, located on Main Chandigarh Road, being allotted to Eastend club has high commercial value as this place can be converted into SCOs/ SCFs.

If the land proposed to be allotted to Club is sold out by converting into SCOs in open market, GLADA is likely to fetch around Rs 200-250 Crores. Further, the Eastend Club, if constructed on main Chandigarh Road, it will lead to chaos and inconvenience due to traffic congestion forever which will directly affect the fundamental rights of people at large.

It is pertinent to mention here that the fair market rates Shop cum Flats in sector 32A located nearby to the proposed site of Club vary from Rs 2.25 Lakhs to 2.50 Lakhs per Sq yards. If the land proposed to be allotted to Club is sold out by converting into SCOs in open market, GLADA is likely to fetch around Rs 200-250 Crores. Further, the Eastend Club, if constructed on main Chandigarh Road, it will lead to chaos and inconvenience due to traffic congestion forever which will directly affect the fundamental rights of people at large.

In the representation, TACFI team informed the concerned authorities that two pockets of low potential land towards rear side of Vardhman Spinning Mills is available with GLADA with total tentative area of 12 acres of land having nearly 1600 feet of front on the 80’ wide road. Out of these two pockets, GLADA has already allotted some land for Temple, Gurudwara, Police station, Driving School & license issuing Center and Medical Center & OPD.

This area is perfect location for setting up of Eastend Club. This Road connects Chandigarh Road with Sector 32A Road and non-existence of residential colony nearby this location as well as lesser use of this road are major benefit of setting up the club here. Besides ample parking space, it will definitely minimise the chances of road accidents, problem due to noise pollution and traffic congestion during various functions and events at Club as compare to land located at main Chandigarh Road.

It is pertinent to mention here that all the entertainments clubs like Satluj Club, Lodhi Club, Nirwana Club, Kashish Club etc. in Ludhiana are located on internal roads and not on the main commercial roads. Further, as on date, GLADA is already fetching good amount of money by selling Commercial plots & SCOs on much higher rates than collector rates in Ludhiana.

TACFI Technical Consultant Er. Kapil Arora informed that the Govt. departments are already facing huge financial crunch and if the Prime Land is still allotted for Eastend Club, it will not only lead to serious & life threatening problems to nearby residents but will also cause major loss of Public Money and urge the Govt. in view of larger Public Interest, the location of Club must be shifted to site as proposed by our NGO.
