Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh  and Rana KP Singh Speaker of Vidhan Sabha on Monday greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra and Durga Puja with a call to pledge themselves to committing, once again, to upholding these age-old traditions of tolerance and harmony.

The values epitomized by these festivals remain a beacon to guide humanity on the path of goodness, and continue to inspire us to promote the ideals of virtuous living, said the Chief Minister. He exhorted the people to emulate the ideals and traditions promoted by Dussehra and Durga Puja, with their symbolism of the victory of good over evil.

These ideals, he said, have become even more relevant in the contemporary environment of growing intolerance and disharmony. He urged one and all to celebrate the festivals in the spirit of harmony and amity, with which they are imbued.  Rana K.P. Singh said Dussehra reminds us the universal truth of virtue triumphing over darkness. "The festival of Vijaydashmi strengthens our belief in the inevitability of the victory of righteousness over evil. This festival surpass communal barriers and provide an opportunity to the people to reinforce their bonds of brotherhood, amity and goodwill", he said.

He further said the festival is a glorious heritage of the pluralistic ethos of Punjab, which further strengthens the spirit of harmony and tranquillity among various segments of the people. He appealed the people to celebrate this joyous occasion collectively with religious fervor and gaiety rising above of the parochial considerations of caste, creed and colour.
