APPLYING SCHEDULE FOR POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP RELEASED

The schedule for applying with regard to the Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Caste and Backward Class category students, has been released. The eligibile students can apply via Dr. Ambedkar online portal from 4th November onwards.

Disclosing this here today, the Social Justice, Empowerment and Minority Affairs Minister Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said that as per the activity schedule for applying for the Post Matric Scholarship for session 2019-20, the portal would be opened from the 4th of November to enable students for applying in the nick of time. He also added that in order to be eligible to avail the scheme, the SC category students must have their annual family income less than Rs. 2.5 lakh and that of Backward Class category students, less than Rs. 1.5 lakh annually. 

Mr. Dharamsot also elaborated that the eligibile students would apply to their concerned institutions from 4th-30th November, 2019 in respect of new and renewable applications and the concerned institutions would forward the online applications to the sanctioning authorities from 30th November to the 10th December, 2019. The sanctioning authorities would send the scholarship cases to the line departments by the 30th of December, 2019 and the line departments would send all the cases to the Social Justice, Empowerment and the Minority Affairs Department by 10th January, 2020. The portal would be closed on 10th January, 2020 at 10 PM. Further information can be had from the website of the department www.punjabscholarships.gov.in. 

The minister further divulged that the State Government is committed to the welfare of the SC and the Backward Classes and is running different schemes aimed at their advancement. He also directed the officers of the department to complete the process regarding scholarships well in time and in accordance with the norms of transparency.
