HIGHCOURT SIX NEW JUDGES INCLUDING HUSBAND AND WIFE TOOK OATH AS ADDITIONAL JUDGES

Six new judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday took oath as Additional Judge.

The Chief justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court Mr. Justice Ravi Shanker Jha today administered oath of office to Sh. Ashok Kumar Verma, Sh. Sant Parkash, Smt. Meenakshi I. Mehta, Sh. Karamjit Singh, Sh. Vivek Puri and his wife Smt. Archana Puri as additional Judges of High Court.

Among those present during the oath taking ceremony included all Judges of the Punjab & Haryana High Court, Registrar, Officers of the registry, Senior Advocates and Office-Bearers of High Court Bar Association.  

They have been appointed for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices, in the order of seniority.

The six names were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in September, this year. With their appointment, the working strength of the High Court rises to 56 against a sanctioned strength of 85 judges.

Recently, Jasgurpreet Singh Puri was also appointed as an Additional Judge in the High Court of Punjab and Haryana
