COUNTRY IN GREAT ECONONIC CRISIS BESIDES POVERTY AND UNEMPLOYMENT, NEEDS MOVEMENT PATH KINDLED BY MAHATMA GANDHI: SELJA

President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee and Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja said the country was in an economic crisis. Besides, poverty and unemployment were also increasing with each passing day and farmers were suffering. Bitterness was being spread among people to divert attention from these issues. “We again need such a movement, the path kindled by Mahatma Gandhi, which binds the country in the thread of unity and takes the nation on the path of progress. It can be only be possible when people of every religion and caste contribute together in the development of the country”.

BJP's central and state governments are adopting various tactics to divert attention from the burning issues. “What kind of language are their leaders using in Delhi elections and their superiors are mute on this behaviour of their leaders. This means that all this is being done at the behest of their superiors, she added”.

 
Kumari Selja was speaking at a state level function organized on the occasion of the Martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi in Faridabad today. On this occasion, she also paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.

She said that Mahatma Gandhi and other the great personalities had sacrificed their lives for the freedom and unity of the country. The great men fought against the ideology of dividing the country. While, on one hand, Mahatma Gandhi fought for freedom, on the other, he also fought for equality. The Congress Party has always kept unity and brotherhood at top, but today the ideology of dividing the country is rising again. Today, efforts are being made to spread hatred in the society.

She said that when freedom struggle was fought, religion and caste was not considered. We have to be careful with these evil forces and save the country. Again, the challenge before us is to keep the country united. The Congress accepts this challenge and it will fight the battle of people of Haryana at all levels. She said we are fully prepared to fight this battle whether we have to raise our voice in the Assembly or on the streets. Under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, all people of our country, irrespective of religion, caste, language, rich or poor, will move forward again.

Later, while addressing a press conference, Kumari Selja said that unemployment in the state was continuously increasing. Industries are being shut down in Gurugram, Faridabad and all across the state. During the rule of the present government, the business class is facing tough conditions and farmers have become completely depressed and frustrated. Today, the law and order in the state has completely broken down.

said that the Congress party believes in work, not in hollow slogans whereas every thing that BJP says is hollow. Ever since the BJP government came into power in the state, the law and order situation has been continuously deteriorating. The NCRB figures are a witness to the fact that law and order in the state is continuously deteriorating and the graph of crime is constantly increasing. Atrocities on women, girls and dalits are increasing day-by-day. “If the Congress government comes into power, we will fix the law and order situation in the state, she added”.
