ROBBERS GANG BUSTED BY POLICE, FIVE PERSONS ARRESTED

 In a major breakthrough, the police have nabbed four members of a robber’s gang who were involved in a bank robbery which took place at HDFC Bank at Village Bhago ke in Mallanwala block on February 6.

A case under sections 457, 380, 427 IPC was registered against unidentified persons at Mallanwala police station on 06.02.2020.

“During the investigation, it was revealed that Amandeep, Kamaljit, Lovepreet, Gurjeet and Harnek were also involved in ATM robbary of Punjab & Sindh Bank near Village Satiyewala on January 23 this year. Besides, they also robbed a cloth shop on January 31st night and stole Rs. 22,000/- cash. The police have recovered a I-20 car and bike (without number)”, said SSP.

Giving details, SSP Bhupinder Singh said that following the investigation, the police have arrested the mastermind behind the robbery, identified as Amandeep Singh alias Sabu, a resident of Village Faridewala. The SSP said that before executing the plan to rob the bank, Amandeep worked as a security guard in this branch in December last year to get all the important information.

The SSP said that the other accused have been identified as Shindu, Kamaldeep Singh Lovepreet Singh alias Laddu (all arrested by the police), Jagsir Singh, Lovepreet Singh alias Labu, Harnek Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Lovepreet Singh, resident of Village Rodde in Mallanwala block.

He said that all the accused belong to the age group of 20-25 years. “They got involved into robbery and theft due to usage of drugs. The police has also recovered the “bank safe” containing around 20-25 lakhs, which they had stolen from the bank. Though, they had stolen the safe, they could not open it. Later, they threw the safe near a canal.

The SSP revealed that the CCTV cameras which were placed outside the bank were not functioning the day incident took place. “I have issued instructions to SP (Operations) that CCTV cameras installed near the banks, should be functioning.

“We have launched a manhunt to nab the other accused”, added. SSP Bhupinder Singh.
