TEN YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT WITH FINE OF Rs. ONE LAKH EACH TO FIVE ACCUSED IN A NDPS CASE

The AADJ, Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh) has sentenced five accused persons namely  Azad,  Bhagwan Das, Pujari, Vikram and Beeru residents of district Panipat & Kurukshetra (Haryana) to undergo ten years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs. one lakh each under Section 8 & 20 of Narcotics, Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. 

CBI had registered a case on 15.03.2017 U/s 20 r/w section 8 & 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985 against accused persons namely Azad, Bhagwan Das, Pujari, Vikram and Beeru on the allegations of possession of 158 (approx.) kgs of Ganja at Saharanpur Railway Station which was purchased from Bahrampur (Odisha). The accused were arrested on 15.03.2017 and all were in judicial custody since then.

After investigation, a charge-sheet was filed against the accused before the Designated Court at Saharanpur on 29.05.2017. The Trial Court at Saharanpur found all the five accused guilty and convicted them.
