A DETERMINED DRIVE NEEDS TO BE MADE TO PROTECT ENVIRONMENT

Conference convener Dr Saurabh Garg said that all public bodies now need to consider how their decisions and policies help towards the goals. These goals include a resilient and a globally responsible India. People expect to maintain and enhance a bio diverse natural environment with healthy functioning ecosystems that support social, economic and ecological resilience and the capacity to adapt to change. We need to leave the environment in a better state than we found it, he added.

Prof Gur Iqbal Singh Sandhu of Punjabi University Patiala and Prof Tarun Arora of Central University Bathinda have reminded law enforcing agencies of their responsibilities to protect the environment.

Speaking at the valedictory session of the national seminar on environmental protection, in Tantia University, they said we will be unfair in our duties towards the next generation if measures are not taken to get the law implemented to preserve environment.

Tantia University chairman Prof MM Saxena said the Governments need to do much to safeguard the environment for the future – for our future – most of the countrymen want stronger protection of the environment for a safer living.
