CHANDIGARH POLICE CHECKS IN VIEW OF RECENT COVID-19 SPREAD EMERGED AT TABLIGHI GATHERING IN NIZAMUDDIN DELHI.

Chandigarh Police checked the various places of stay of Chandigarh to rule out any possibility of spreading of Covid-19 among people at these places and also to check out if anyone has attended any Tablighi gathering. The drive was conducted in view of emerged recent cases reported at Tablighi gathering, Nizamuddin Delhi. Ground level checking was carried out and CID was also deployed to gather ground level information.

Five persons have been identified in the area of Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh who recently attended Tablighi Jamat at Nizamuddin Delhi. They were sent to medical examination through Ambulance. One person resident of Mata Raj Kaur Gurudwara, MM, Chandigarh had also attended the jamat at Mobina Masjid Ramganj, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Fifteen persons residing in premises of Noorani Masjid, Bapu Dham, Sector 26, Chandigarh with their president identified who belonged to Tablighi jamaat have reached the city on March 17 after attending Jamat at Mahrashtra.

As per information by their President, Mr. Hazi Mohamad Yunus Ansari, they arrived from Mumbai by Chandigarh Express Train which was boarded on March 16 from Borivilli, Mumbai. He also stated that 14 students of Madarsa are also staying in the same premises since last one year. Chandigarh Police advised them to stay at their place and not to move around and leave the premises. Beat staff also briefed to check the movement.

Chandigarh Police is obtaining the data and information to ascertain the place of movement of above persons and to check the veracity of the statement by them. The facts have also been verified through beat staff and as per their report no such gathering has been taken place in past and further planned in the area of Chandigarh. Chandigarh Police has informed Health department in this regard.

It is reliably learnt that at least one hundred persons of six families attending Nijamudeen Tableeg-e-jamat have been identified and sent to quarantine by the Muncipal Corporation Team. The sample of five have been sent to Laboratory.
