GOVT. TO INFORM HIGHCOURT BEFORE SECOND COUNSELING FOR ADMISSION IN PG COURSES IN MEDICAL COLLEGES

“High Court shall be informed before conducting second counseling for admission in PG Courses IN Medical Colleges ” - Government undertakes before the Bench. 

On an application moved by Dr. Varun Garg and Dr. Rajiv Arora for urgent hearing of their writ petition, the matter was again taken up this morning by a Division Bench of the Hon’ble High Court comprising Justice S. Muralidhar and Justice Avneesh Jhingan.

 Counsel for the State of Punjab gave an undertaking to the Bench that the High Court shall inform the High Court before holding further counselling With this undertaking coming on record, the HC Bench granted one weeks’ time to the respondent-State of Punjab to file their reply to the Civil Writ Petition, while adjourning the case to 2.6.2020 for further hearing during vacation period.

The petitioners are inter-alia, seeking the issuance of appropriate directions to the respondents, to grant them also incentive marks at the rate of 10% of the marks scored by them in the NEET Examination for each year of rural service as Rural Medical Officer, at par with similar incentive being given to PCMS doctors.

After the notice of the Civil Writ Petition was issued to the respondents, they conducted first counseling during the lockdown period, whereupon the petitioners had now made online mentioning for urgent hearing of case for grant of interim relief to them.

During today’s hearing, the Counsel for the State of Punjab gave an undertaking to the Bench that the High Court shall inform the High Court before holding further counselling With this undertaking coming on record, the HC Bench granted one weeks’ time to the respondent-State of Punjab to file their reply to the Civil Writ Petition, while adjourning the case to 2.6.2020 for further hearing during vacation period.
