 Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar kick-started the “Mission Fateh” campaign to create public awareness against Covid-19.

Prof. Ishar said Mission Fateh symbolises the resolve of the people of Punjab to halt the spread of the Novel Coronavirus through discipline, cooperation and compassion.

He said “Awareness generation is the most potent tool in combating novel corona virus. Therefore, university and its National Service Scheme (NSS) wing would undertake an array of activities to encourage people to be more careful in the coming days.”

Making an appeal to people, Prof. Ishar said, “don’t let complacency creep into you through the belief that the virus is not as harmful as it was made out to be. “Exercise all caution. It is the duty of every citizen towards, his family, his neighbours and the nation to continue to remain vigilant at all times.”

The ‘Çorona Warriors’ Security guards and sanitary workers were honoured with Mission Fateh badges by the Vice Chancellor.

NSS, Coordinator, Dr. Meenu said NSS volunteers would educate masses about COVID 19 by visiting door to door in various parts of city especially in localities of weaker sections. The volunteers by distributing the pamphlets convey the message of observing all precautions like wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining social distance, encouraging people to download Cova App to halt the onslaught of the virus.

Detailing other activities, university Registrar, Dr. Jatinder Kaur said the students will also be apprised about main motive of Mission Fateh through their online classes.

MRSPTU, Registrar, Dr. Jatinder Kaur, Dean Research and Development, Dr. Jasbir Singh Hundal, Dr. Sanjiv Aggarwal, Dr. Rajesh Gupta, Dr. Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot, Dr. Amit Bhatia, Dr. Paramjit Singh, Dr. Bhupinder Singh, Harjinder Sidhu and Harjot Singh Sidhu also graced the occasion.

Meanwhile Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda commemorated the 181st death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.MRSPTU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar led the faculty and staff of the University in paying rich floural tributes to the great Sikh emperor. 

Prof. Ishar spoke about the ideals of great Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh and presented brief history of the leader of the Sikh Empire, which ruled the northwest Indian subcontinent in the early half of the 19th century. He said that recently in a poll conducted by the BBC World Histories Magazine, Maharaja Ranjit Singh was voted as greatest ruler in the world history. He was born in Gujranwala (now in Pakistan) on November 13, 1780, and died on June 27, 1839, in Lahore He is also known as the ‘Sher-E-Punjab’ (Lion of the Punjab)’. 

University registrar, Dr. Jatinder Kaur expressed her gratitude towards Punjab government for carving a university in Malwa on the name of great Sikh Emperor.
