CBI ARRESTS ABSCONDING ACCUSED HAILS FROM PUNJAB ON CARRYING FAKE CURRENCY AFTER SEVEN YEARS

CBI had registered a case u/s 120-B, 489 B & 489 C of IPC on 13.09.2012 against two accused (resident of District Navashahr, Punjab) & other unknown persons on a complaint from Customs Department, IGI Airport, New Delhi.

It was alleged that Customs (Preventive), IGI Airport, New Delhi had seized Fake Indian Currency Notes ( FICN) to the tune of Rs. 6,01,500/- on 11/12.09.2012 from a passenger (resident of Mukatpura, Distt. Navashahr, Punjab).

During investigation, the passengerKulwant Rai, resident of Mukatpura, Distt. Navashar(Punjab). ad named another accused Kuldeep Singh Dua,resident of Distt. Navashahr,Punjab) as the person who handed over him for carrying the same to India.

After investigation, a chargesheet was filed against the said passenger. The other accused was continuously absconding for almost 7 years and was not available for investigation, as such look out notice (LoC) was issued against him.

The arrested accused Kuldeep Singh Dua, was produced before the Competent Court, Delhi and was remanded to Judicial Custody.
