The athletic community will soon be getting a synthetic track at Sukhna lake, Chandigarh. The demand of athletes of tricity will be met by providing them a track that will provide a good surface for running and jogging.
Sh.Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator participated in the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony of Synthetic track at Sukhna lake today in the presence of Dr.Vijay N Zade, Secretary Engineering, Sh.C.B.Ojha, Chief Engineer, Sh.Kapil Setia, Chief Architect and athletes of the tricity.
The exiting cinder track at Sukhna Lake that is 4’9’’ wide and 1800 meters long is difficult to maintain, and is inconvenient for the users due to dust and insufficient soak up absorption ability. It is also not suitable to be used as running track. The surface of track requires careful maintenance to preserve good surface.
It has been decided to construct a 6 ft. wide synthetic track in place of existing cinder track that will offer good surface for running and jogging. It also offers good traction even in different weather, which is not possible in the case of cinder track which changes according to weather.
This weather proof synthetic track allows users to use it for a longer period of time despite of changing weather. The material used in synthetic track is also durable, weather resistance, environment friendly and requires low maintenance.
