Members of the All-India Arora Khatri Punjabi Community, led by Abohar area president Naresh Khurana, today paid floral tributes to Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh on his Balidan Diwas at the memorial that was inaugurated by the great martyr’s nephew Prof. Jagmohan Singh last year.
The memorial was initially developed by the Labour Union and unveiled by renowned parliamentarian Prakash Vir Shastri in 1968. The only surviving member of the Council managing committee, Raj Sadosh, president of Lekhak Parishad and patron of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Samajik Manch Panchkula was present at the function. The Manch, headed by social activist Bharat Hiteshi, had renovated the memorial and installed a life-sized statue of Shaheed-e-Azam with a huge cost last year.
Others who were present to pay tributes amid raising of slogans like “Inquilab Zindabad” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai” were Praveen Chawla, Kamal Khurana, Aseem Chhabra, Rakesh Raheja, Darshan Lal Chugh, Journalist Gaurav Nagpal, Sewa Bharati general secretary Kulbhushan Hiteshi, Hitesh Monga and members of the Bhagat Singh Market Association.
