CGC JHANJERI BECOMES THE FIRST INSTITUTE IN PUNJAB TO BE GRANTED A+ GRADE IN THE FIRST CYCLE

Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Jhanjeri has been awarded the prestigious A+ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The big achievement wasannounced by Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Executive Director, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, during a press conference at Chandigarh. With this grade, CGC Jhanjeri has become one of the most prestigious and elite Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) in India.
Established in 2012, Chandigarh Group of Colleges has become the first institute in the state of Punjab to be granted accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with A+ grade in the first cycle itself. Dr. Anupam Deep Sharma, Registrar and Director Academics, CGC Jhanjeri; and Dr. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Professor and Head Applied Sciences, CGC Jhanjeri were also present on the occasion.
While interacting with the media, CGC Jhanjeri Executive Director Dr. Neeraj Sharma said, “Chandigarh Group of Colleges has scored a CumulativeGrade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.46 on 4 point scale of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), which has made it the first and only institute in Punjab to have achieved this remarkable ranking.” It is the hard-work and dedication of the students and faculty for 10 years that has resulted in the institute getting this recognition, which has endorsed our academic framework and policies beingpracticed since inception, Dr. Neeraj further added.
Mentioning about the unique practices being followed by the institute over the years that has led it to achieving this recognition, Dr. Neeraj Sharma said, “The institute has pioneered in offering new-age programs in emerging fields as well as traditional programs customized as per the changing requirements of the industry.
We follow a flexible choice-based academic model, which gives students the freedom to undergo learning in multiple disciplines along with transparent and continuous evaluation process that helps in holistic development of our students. This has led to greater acceptability of our talent in the corporate world. More than 800multi-national companies rolled out a total of 8500+ job offers to our students in 2022.”Underlining the research at the institute, Executive Director Dr. Neeraj said, “CGC Jhanjeri has always laid a special emphasis on research on the campus, and features state-of-the-art R&D infrastructure including 50 Centres of Excellence and an annual research budget of Rs. 15 Crores. Owing to which, both students and faculty have been actively engaged in socially-relevant research and innovation, which has resulted in filling of 2000+ patents and establishment of 75 start-ups within a short span of time.”In addition, Chandigarh Group of Colleges emphasizes sports and curricular activities on the campus to promote all round development of the students, and has won several tournaments over the years.

He also mentioned that the performance of the institute across key parameters of student services, research, academic mode, achievements of the students and faculty, and industry liasoning and acceptance has led to the institute achieving NAAC accreditation with ‘A+’ grade.
Explaining the accreditation process, CGC JhanjeriRegistrar and Director Academics Dr. Anupam Deep Sharma said, “The process of accreditation by NAAC involves 70 percent assessment based on the data submitted by the institution/university, which is assessed by the third party, making stringent and challenging. The accreditation includeda comprehensive evaluation of the institution’s academic and administrative process, infrastructure, faculty, and student performance.” He further added that NAAC accreditation will open new avenues for the institute andits students.
National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an autonomous body funded by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which evaluates the performance of Higher Educational Institutions in India in terms of educational process, curriculum, teaching-learning process and outcomes, research, governance, new initiatives and student services. Established in 1994, the organization works towards the periodic assessment and accreditation of universities and institutions to award their innovative teaching-learning approaches and research initiatives and simulates the academic environment to promote quality parameter of education.
