Park Hospital has commenced the use of innovative Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) in Parkinson's disease treatment, wherein a device similar to a pacemaker is used to treat Parkinson's by controlling abnormal activities and providing relief in symptoms like tremors, rigidity, and small steps. This pioneering treatment provides significant relief from the painful symptoms of Parkinson's disease. This information was provided by renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Deepak Tyagi during a press conference held here on Saturday.

He explained that throughout the entire surgical process, from creating holes in the brain to surgery, patients are kept conscious to ensure their treatment proceeds correctly.

In this journalist interview, Dr. Rimple Gupta, Director - Critical Care, MBBS, DA, DNB (Anesthesia), IDCCM, Dr. Anil Sofat, MBBS, MD, M.Ch. (Neurosurgery), and Ashok Bediwal, CEO - Park Hospital, along with Dr. Aadesh Kang, Deputy CEO - Park Hospital, were also present.

In India, Parkinson's disease affects approximately 1% of people over the age of 60, and due to the increasing elderly population, its prevalence is rising. Dr. Deepak Tyagi mentioned that there is a notable increase in the number of patients with Parkinson's disease. Hospital authorities stated that Park Hospital has conducted extensive DBS surgeries on a large scale in the past decade with a success rate of 95%.
