PUNJAB MINISTER AMAN ARORA PAYS TRIBUTE AT ASAFWALA WAR MEMORIAL

On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, Minister for Employment Generation, Skill Development and Training Punjab Aman Arora hoisted the national flag and took salute from the march past at the district level function. 

Earlier, he visited the Asafwala War Memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 war by laying a wreath. He remembered those who sacrificed themselves for the country. 

At the main function, Arora said that the state has a firm resolve for the welfare of army personnel, families of martyrs and ex-servicemen. The govt. has increased the ex-gratia amount from Rs 50 lakh to 1 crore for the heirs of the martyred jawans and has also included firemen under this financial assistance scheme. Apart from this, the govt. has increased the pension to families of freedom fighters from Rs 9400 to Rs 11,000.

On reaching Fazilka, IG Baljot Singh Rathore, Deputy Commissioner Dr Senu Duggal, SSP Varinder Singh Brar and ADC Rakesh Kumar Popli welcomed the Minister.

Sewing machines were presented to needy women on the occasion.
