PARTICIPATED IN CREATE IN INDIA CHALLENGE, LEARN, CONTRIBUTE AND MAKE A POSITIVE CHANGE TO THE SECTOR

Press Information Bureau, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, organized an interactive session for Panjab University students today, to build awareness and participation in the ‘Create in India Challenge Season 1’.
The Create in India Challenge is a series of 27 competitions / challenges which are being held as part of the World Audio Visual &Entertainment Summit (WAVES), the global Media & Entertainment summit being organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. The grand finale of the Create in India Challenge will be held during WAVES, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi during February 5-9, 2025.
Emphasizing on the significance of the event, Chairperson, School of Communication Studies, Panjab University, Dr.Bhavneet Bhatti said: “In today’s scenario, practical training is a must for holistic learning. Events like these offer students an opportunity to practically apply what they have learnt in their course and help them network with other media professionals and industry experts.”

Joint Director, PIB Chandigarh,Mr. Dheep Joy Mampilly who was the Chief Guest on the occasion, informed the students about the Create in India Challenge and told them that it presents a very good opportunity for them to learn, gain exposure, get mentorship and also make a positive change to their profession and sector.
He pointed out that students from all across India can participate in 27 challenges in diverse fields such as animation, gaming, comics, film, generative AI, broadcasting, and others. He informed that WAVES provides students and amateur content creators the opportunities to interact with mainstream professionals, thus bridging the gap between the two.
Highlighting the importance of the media and entertainment sector, he said that there are no aspects of life that are not influenced by media and communication.He added that the summit serves to encourage content creation in order to enhance India’s soft power, and promote growth, collaboration and innovation in the media and entertainment sector.
The Joint Director’s address was followed by an interactive session, where students’ queries regarding the Challenge and the summit were answered.
Media and Communication Officer, PIB Chandigarh, Ms. Vatica Chandra, who was the guest of honour for the occasion, gave a presentation and explained to the students the functioning of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. Among others, she emphasized the special outreach programs conducted by various departments of the Ministry, to relay information till the last citizen.
Professor Archana R Singh, School of Communication Studies, also attended the session and interacted with the students.
The WAVES summit is the world’s first convergence event for the entire Media and Entertainment Sector. It envisions enhancement of India’s soft power, and thus making India a hub for the content creation on a global level ,increasing its market share and attracting global investments in media and entertainment sector.
