MOUNT CARMELITES CELEBRATED FOUNDERS DAY WITH FERVOR: WEAVING “ONE SCHOOL, MANY STORIES – A LEARNING TAPESTRY”.

Under the visionary guidance of the Founders and Directors, Dr. Earnest Charles J. Samuel and Dr. Annie Charles Samuel, Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh, celebrated its 37th Annual-cum-Founders Day with unparalleled enthusiasm and grandeur at Tagore Theatre. Themed “One School, Many Stories – A Learning Tapestry”, the event beautifully encapsulated the essence of the school as a vibrant community of diverse stories, bound together by shared values and aspirations. 

  
The Chief Guest for Slot 3 was Shri Amit Kumar, I.A.S Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. The Guests of Honour who graced the occasion were Dr. Amit Bhattacharjee, Scientist, PGIMER and Mr. Jagdeep Sehgal, Joint Director, Local Government Punjab. The earlier slots were graced by notable dignitaries, including Ms. Shipra Bansal, Chairperson CCPCR, Chandigarh, Mr Chander Shekhar retired D.G.P (I.P.S), Mr. Rajendra Singh, retired D.G.P (I.P.S), Mr. Kuldeep Kumar Mayor, Chandigarh and Colonel Deepak De SM (retired).
 

The celebration began on an auspicious note with a scripture reading from the Holy Bible, followed by a warm welcome by the Head Girl. The stage then came alive with a spectacular display of diversity, featuring dances like Afro Dance, Mask Dance, Sports and Science Dance, an English Play, Gujrati Garba, Marathi Lavani and the ever-vivacious Bhangra. The Senior Choir added harmony with a soul-stirring medley, perfectly aligned with the event’s rhythm. 

The achievements of the past academic session were proudly showcased in the Annual Report, followed by a Prize Distribution ceremony. The Founders and Directors, Chief Guest , Guests of Honour and the Principal, Dr. Parveena John Singh, presented awards to deserving students, reinforcing the school’s commitment to recognizing and nurturing excellence. 

The grand finale, based on the theme “One School, Many Stories - A Learning Tapestry ”, left the audience mesmerized. The Chief Guest, Sh. Amit Kumar, emphasized the importance of collaboration and school life to build a brighter tomorrow, resonating deeply with the audience. He further added "A school is not just a place of learning; it is a foundation for building character, discipline, and a bright future." 

Every performance reflected the talent, dedication, and creativity of the students, leaving the spectators spellbound. The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks and the rendition of the National Anthem, marking the culmination of a truly remarkable event. 

The Principal, Dr. Parveena John Singh lauded the relentless efforts of all stakeholders in bringing the event to fruition and highlighted the myriad opportunities Mount Carmel School provides to its students. The 37th Annual-cum-Founders Day was not merely a celebration; it was a vivid tapestry of learning, culture, and unity, leaving an indelible mark on everyone present. 

Accolades were bestowed upon Scholastic and Co-scholastic achievers. 47 students were awarded the Best All-round Students’ trophies for the session 2023-24. 94 students of classes VI to XII were awarded for Excellence in Academics for the session 2023-24. 

The Shining Star Trophies for outstanding performances in various fields as mentioned, were awarded to Navnid Singh Kalra of class II-B, Harnidh Singh Kalra of class V-D & Jackson Kamal Masih of class IX-D -Theatre, Pratishtha Singh of III-C, Amayra Chaudhary of II-A, Reet Channa of V-C, Vimarsh Kapoor of VI-D, Shavik Bragta of X-B and Ritisha Sinha of XII-D – Fine Arts, Viraj Arora of K.G-A, Nikunj Arora of V-C, Aditi Lohia of X-B and Naaz of X-C – Sports, Tanvi of III-A and Anusha Jena of VIII-C – Dance, Deepak Saho of IV-B, Myrah Talwar of V-D, Vinamr Kapoor of IX-D, Shavik Bragta of X-B and Priyanshu Patel of X-D – Literary Activities, Niyati of X-A – Music, & Dipak Sahoo of IV-B, Manitjot Singh and Shavik Bragta of X-B – I.T. 

Dr. Annie Charles Samuel & Dr. Earnest Charles J. Samuel Rolling Trophy for the highest aggregate marks scored by the student of the School in the Class XII CBSE Examinations conducted in March 2024 was bagged by Aashirya, who scored 96.4% marks. 41 students were awarded for scoring 90% and above marks in the CBSE Board Examiantion-2024. The staff members who served the Institution for more than 15 years, 20 years, 25 years and 30 years were also honoured on this occasion.

Rolling Trophies for the Most Disciplined Class, Best Dressed Class & the Best Kept Class from the Foundational Years (Classes Pre-Nursery to II) were bagged by class K.G-C, Class I-C and Class Nursery-A respectively. Rolling Trophies for the Most Disciplined Class, Best Dressed Class & the Best Kept Class from the Primary Wing (Classes III to V) were bagged by class V-E, class IV-A and class IV-C respectively. Rolling Trophies for the Most Disciplined Class, Best Dressed Class & the Best Kept Class from the Middle Wing (Classes VI to VIII) were bagged by class VIII-E, class VI-D & class VIII-B respectively. Rolling Trophies for the Most Disciplined Class, Best Dressed Class & the Best Kept Class from the Senior Wing (Classes IX to XII) were bagged by class IX-B, class X-A and class XII-D respectively. 

Jonathan Ivan Charles Rolling Trophy for the best student of the school (Juniors) in cultural activities was bagged by ­­­Dipak Sahoo of Class IV-B. Jefferson Samuel Charles Rolling Trophy for the best student of the school (Seniors) in cultural activities was bagged by ­­­Ritisha Sinha of Class XII-D. Mrs. Poonam Bhatt Rolling trophy for the Best All-round student of the School was also bagged by ­­­ Shavik Bragta of class X-B. 

The Rolling trophy for the Best House in Athletics for the year were awarded to Keats House. The Rolling trophy for the Best House on Duty for the year was awarded to Milton House Mrs. & Rev. Samuel John Memorial Rolling trophy for the Best House of the year was awarded to Keats House. Mrs. Surinder Bala memorial Rolling trophy for the Most Active Club of the year was bagged by Cyber Club.
