REGIONAL PRESIDENT AWWA INAUGURATES HPV VACCINATION CAMP-CUM-AWARENESS DRIVE AT COMMAND HOSPITAL CHANDIMANDIR

In a significant effort to safeguard young girls against cervical cancer, Command Hospital Western Command, Chandimandir, organized a special Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination camp. The camp, which aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early HPV vaccination, was inaugurated by Mrs. Shuchi Katiyar, Regional President of Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Western Command. The event saw the active participation of over 1000 people, including children, parents, and guardians.

Regional President AWWA expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming response from the community and emphasized the importance of continued efforts to promote vaccination. She said "Initiatives like this not only protect our future generations but also foster long-term health and well-being".

The medical team of Command Hospital informed that the Cervical cancer, caused primarily by persistent HPV infection, is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide. This vaccination initiative is a critical step in reducing the incidence of cervical cancer, particularly within the army community, and promoting preventive healthcare.

The camp featured a series of well-organized activities, which included an Awareness Session, Counselling,a Vaccination campaign and a health exhibition to highlight the safety and efficacy of the HPV vaccine and to educate attendees about the need for timely vaccination.

A total of 1010 eligible children, aged 9 to 14 years, received the HPV vaccine after obtaining parental consent. Trained healthcare professionals administered the vaccine, ensuring that every participant had the opportunity to benefit from this life-saving preventive measure.
