JOINT FORUM OF FARMERS’ UNIONS ORGANISES TRACTOR MARCH ON REPUBLIC DAY

As part of a program organized under SKM (non-political), Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, and Samyukt Kisan Morcha (political), a joint march was held on Sunday Fazilka district. Streets were filled with a sea of farmers who arrived at the march on tractors, motorcycles, and other vehicles. 

Punjab Border Area Kisan Union, Fazilka district president Sukhdev Singh Sandhu, and Sham Lal Kamboj, a member of the state committee, said this is not just an issue for farmers but a fight for all sections of society. They emphasized that they are not engaging in politics but are fighting solely for the rights of farmers, shopkeepers, and laborers. 

Senior Vice President Harnek Chand Kamboj and District Secretary Darshan Singh from the Punjab Border Area Kisan Union said that only 20 percent of wheat has been purchased by private agencies, including Adani and Ambani. Now wheat costs Rs 35 per kg, making it unaffordable for the poor.

 Major Singh Saideke said that the Modi government should abandon arrogance and hold talks with the farmers. He also said that the government should not adopt policies similar to those of Aurangzeb. Amanjot Singh, president of BKU Ekta Sidhupur Jalalabad, demanded that the minimum support price (MSP) for food grains like wheat, rice, pulses, and other produce should be fixed. 

Sukhdan Singh Sainian said that the central government under Narendra Modi is handing over agriculture to corporate houses. Gurcharan Singh said that if farming goes into the hands of corporate houses, small shopkeepers will vanish. Satish Singh, Chand Singh, Jangir Singh, Balkar Singh, Sher Singh, Santokh Singh Fauji, Gurdeep Singh and Balkar Singh Tahliwala also addressed.
