Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, visited the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Toronto on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversaries of Bhagwan Shri Swaminarayan and Bhagwan Shri Ram.
He was warmly welcomed in a traditional Hindu manner in the Abhishek Mandapam. Pujya Gunsagar Swami, the Head Swami of BAPS activities in Canada, honoured the Prime Minister with a rose garland. Pujya Gnanpriya Swami tied the sacred thread on his wrist. Pujya Yagnavallabh Swami, the Head Swami of BAPS activities in North America, performed the auspicious abhishek ritual of Nilkanth Varni Maharaj alongside the Prime Minister. They offered prayers for peace and well-being across Canada and around the world.
The Prime Minister admired the architecture and intricate carvings, taking a deep interest in the spiritual and cultural significance of this sacred place. He joined the swamis in performing the arti and offered flowers and a basket of fruits to the murtis. He was presented with a special edition of the Satsang Diksha, a spiritual scripture authored by Mahant Swami Maharaj. This unique edition was written in Sanskrit, Gujarati, English, and French.

The PM wrote in the guest book: “With the deepest appreciation for your prayers and hospitality, and with all my conviction to work without fail to promote peace, unity, harmony, and prosperity for Canada, India, and all nations.”
