Police Station Cyber of Chandigarh Police arrested 02 accused namely Abhishek Chauhan S/O Rohitash Singh, R/O. Puraini, PS- Nagina, Distt. Bijnor(UP), and Ravi Kant S/O Lalu Singh, R/O Mohalla- Pahadi Darwaja, Dhampur, Bijnor, (UP) in Case FIR No. 50 dated 25.08.2022 U/S 419,420,120B , PS Cyber Crime, Chandigarh.

The brief of the case are that PS-Cyber Crime had received complaint regarding receiving of Whatsapp call and the caller posed himself as Grandson of victim calling from Australia and told him that he had come in a club with friends, where they got into a fight with the waiter about something and hit a beer bottle on waiter head and the waiter got badly injured and admitted in hospital. Further they were arrested by Police.

His grandson started crying and passed phone to a person who introduced himself as Advocate of his grandson, from Delhi and told him that an FIR has been registered against his Grandson and his friends. Further he said that he was defending his grandson who got fined by Australian Police of amounting 6000 Australian dollars. Further he said that to deposit Rs. 60,000/- in in bank.

Later he again received call from another mobile number through WhatsApp and again demanded for Rs. 50,000/- and the same was deposited in above said Bank account. After that he called back on above numbers, but the call was disconnected and found that he was dupped of Rs. 1,10,000/- by the unknown caller on the name of his Grandson.

Further during investigation, a raid was conducted in Dhampur, Bijnor on 04.10.2022 where the accused Ravi Kant S/o Kalu Singh, R/o Mohalla- Pahadi Darwaja, Dhampur, Bijnore, UP was got arrested. Further in his disclosure statement, the accsued Ravi Kant disclosed that his friend named Abhishek who lives in Vill. Puraini, PS- Nagina, Distt Bijnor has taken access of his bank account Internet banking for depositing school fee of her sister and he provided the OTPs for online transactions in good faith.

According to statement of Ravi Kant a raid was also conducted at residence of Abhishek Chauhan, where the accused Abhishek Chauhan has been arrested. Further both the accused was sent to judicial custody and the case is under investigation.
