POSTAL ADMIN TRYING TO DEVELOP POST OFFICES AS A SINGLE STOP SOLUTION FOR ALL KINDS OF CUSTOMER CENTRIC SERVICES: MANISHA.

Postal Administration is trying to develop post offices as a single stop solution for all kinds of customer centric services. While intracting Merdia persons at Sandesh Bhawan here on Monday Ms Manisha Bansal Badal, said, India Post envisions post office as an entity where customer needs and requirements are being met in a single visit.

In a single visit, the customer can open an SB account, get Insurance Cover or Pay PLI premium, get adhaar updated, apply for passport/PCC, book national or international articles and more services which will be added during the coming times.

Ms Radhika Dhir, Director Postal Services (HQ) delivered the welcome address. Various officers of Punjab Postal Circle were present during the conference.Press Conference was held by Ms Manisha Bansal Badal, Postmaster General, Punjab Circle to apprise the media about the activities being undertaken by Punjab Circle during the Postal Week w.e.f 09.10.2022 to 13.10.2022.

The conference focused on all the initiatives taken by Punjab Postal Circle to provide all types of services to the public. She also intimated the media that 9th October is celebrated as ‘World Post Day’ all over the world to commemorate the setting up of Universal Postal Union in 1874 in Berne, Switzerland . Punjab Postal Circle also organized Swatchhta Campaigns in Post offices and Postal colonies.

On  Monday , which is celebrated as Vittiya Sashaktikaran Diwas, Savings camps are being organized in various schools and colleges to spread awareness about the benefits of savings and insurance among the youth. Efforts are being made to open Sukanya Samriddhi accounts of all girl children and PPF accounts of boys by organizing savings bank camps in Government and Private Schools. She also interacted with their customers for the best postal experience

On Oct. 12, i.e Philately Day, the circle is organizing seminars, quiz and workshops to spread awareness about Philately as a hobby. Students of various schools will be sensitized to participate in Dhai Akhar and SPARSH campaigns. On the same day i.e Mails & Parcel Day, Parcel packaging facility will be expanded to more post offices and efforts will be made by postal marketing executives to enroll more and more speed post, BNPL, Parcel customers. Special focus will be made on exporters to register them under Postal Bill of exports, which provides fast and hassel free custom clearance to exporters through India Post Online Portal.

Ms. Manisha Bansal Badal, further told that on Oct. 13 Antyodya Diwas, Adhaar Awareness camps will be held by postal employees at Schools, Colleges, Residential colonies, Government offices to facilitate people for Adhaar enrolment and updations at their doorstep. Special focus will be made on mandatory adhaar updations of children aged 5 years and 15 years.

Apart from the activities under postal , comprehensive camps are also being organized in nooks and cornesr of Punjab for opening savings banks accounts of customers, for providing Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance cover to the marginalized public, settling public grievance and fast settlement of claims.

She also said that under ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Campaign, more than 1.8 lakh National Flags were sold by the Post Offices in Punjab Circle. Customers who placed online orders for flags were given the facility of free delivery of flag at their doorstep. Special Rakhi envelopes were also prepared and made available through post offices before the Rakhi Festival for helping our sisters send rakhi nationally and internationally. Punjab circle was one of the three circles PAN India which booked more than 1 Lakh International Articles in July 2022 (Including Rakhi Articles).

Department of Posts has also started a very innovative service called ‘Click and Book facility the customers can register themselves on India Post portal and can book their articles online, generate receipts on their printer themselves and also get the articles picked up from their doorstep by paying a requisite fee online.

9 POPSK (Post Office Passport Seva Kendras) are functional in the Circle where no RPO’s or Sewa Kendras of Passport offices are available for the benefits of general public. Now facility of PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) is also available through these POPSK’s from 10.10.2022 onwards.

For expediting delivery of articles within Punjab, 53 dedicated vehicles have been deployed in Punjab circle for carrying mail within Punjab. These vehicles are GPS enabled and their movement is being monitored online, by Postal officers at various levels. Due to this initiative, Punjab Circle is trying to deliver 100 percent articles in major cities of Punjab within D+1 (D being the date of booking). This has helped Punjab Postal Circle to add many new corporate customers, industrial houses, and educational institutes etc as their customers. Postman Mobile App (PMA) is being used by Postman staff to give real time delivery updations. Even Ordinary Letters posted in letter boxes are now digitized and monitored through Nanyatha Mobile App.

For better delivery experience concept of Nodal Delivery Center for Parcel is implemented in Punjab Circle and at present 12 NDC’s are functional in major cities with dedicated postman staff on mechanized two and four wheelers. Similarly, Delivery Centers were made operational in Punjab Circle for fast and efficient delivery of all mails other than parcels.
