POLICE MADE THE FIRST ARREST OF THIS HIGH PROFILE CASE.

The king pin  Dev Raj Tyagi of Gandhi Samarak Nidhi Sector 16  ultimately arrested  by the Chandigarh Police and got  remand for 3 days for further investigation. The remaining 13 acused still at large, who were nominated in FIR  under sections 419, 420, 458, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B, which was registered at Sector 17Police Station on Friday.

Police said, Devraj Tyagi was an employee of the Gandhi Samark Nidhi, after taking one year extension from the management, he planned and conspired to grab the property worth crores of Rupees.

A trust named Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Bhawan was got registered in the month of September last year by joining 5 people of the city including a journalist  claimed to be the owner.

A large number of delegations  of the institute immediately met the administrator and apprised the whole matter . The Administrator stopped the funds for the building and immediately ordered the police to investigate the matter.

On October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, he invited Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh and Satyapal Jain, Additional Solistor General of the Government of India. Many people including the journalist were honored in this programme.

On this occasion,  the administrator announcef five lacs  for the development of the building. The chairman of the institute Sanjay and secretary Anand Sharan were kept ignorant about this program. Tyagi started the process of getting the huge amount from the administrator, Meanwhile the office bearers of the institute got the information of forming a separate trust.

It may be recalled that the case was registered include Naresh Sharma, Ishwar Aggarwal, Yogesh Behl, Devraj Tyagi's wife Kanchan Tyagi, his son Mudit Tyagi, daughter-in-law Aksha Raina, Anand Rao, Papiya Chakraborty, Vicky, Amit Kumar, Mohinder,  , Rama Devi and MP Dogra. 

Meanwhile Chandigarh Police said, a complaint from Anand Kumar Sharan R/o Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Patti Kalyana, Samalkha, Panipat, Haryana regarding forgery and embezzlement of funds by Gandhi Smarak Bhawan Incharge, Sector-16, Chandigarh, in which the complainant alleged that one Dev Raj Tayagi was working as Incharge of Gandhi Bhawan Sector-16, Chandigarh which is a unit of the trust Gandhi Samark Nidhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Patti Kaliyana, Samalkha, Panipat, Haryana.

He retired after attaining the age of superannuation, but submitted representation for continuing his service. On his request, he was appointed on contract basis from 1.5.2022 to 26.3.2023. During this period, the competent authority came to know certain illegal activities being done by the above said Dev Raj Tayagi and after having a fact finding enquiry done, his contractual service was terminated vide order dated 16.10.2022.

The above said Dev Raj Tayagi organized a function on the eve of Gandhi Jayanti i.e. on 2.10.2022, at Gandhi Bhawan Sector-16, Chandigarh and collected sponsorship money in an unauthorized trust in the similar name so as to play a fraud with sponsors as well as with the trust.

During the course of enquiry, the facts were verified from main branch Gandhi Samark Nidhi, Raj Ghat, New Delhi and as per their report “no person or association of persons can register any branch of Gandhi Samark Nidhi or any other unit, unless or until, it is resolved in the board of trustees of the Gandhi Samark Nidhi (Central) at Raj Ghat New Delhi, which is collaborated with the deed of declaration of the trust and regulations”.

Beside this, the documents were verified from DC Office Chandigarh and found that the above said Dev Raj Tayagi has made a parallel trust by making forged and fabricate documents with the help of self style trustees without the knowledge/approval from main branch Gandhi Samark Nidhi (Central) at Raj Ghat New Delhi.

Keeping in view of above, a Case FIR No. 8 dated 12.1.2023 u/s 419, 420, 448, 467, 468, 471 & 120-B has been registered in Police Station Sector-17, Chandigarh against Dev Raj Tayagi and others for forgery, Cheating and embezzlement of funds and donation received in the same of Gandhi Samark Bhawan Sector-16, Chandigarh. During the course of investigation, accused Dev Raj Tayagi has been arrested.

Further, the investigation of the case is going on and efforts are being made to nab the remaining accused.
