LT GEN DEVENDRA SHARMA HANDS OVER COMMAND OF VAJRA CORPS TO LT GEN VIJAY B NAIR

Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding, Vajra Corps handed over command of Vajra Corps to Lieutenant General Vijay B Nair today. Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma will take over the prestigious assignment of Chief of Staff at Headquarters Western Command.
Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma is an alumni of National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy had taken over the command of Vajra Corps on 10 Feb 2022.In an illustrious career spanning over three decades, the General Officer has held varied and significant command and staff appointments. The General Officer has served in diverse operational environments including Counter Insurgency along the Line of Control, OPERATION RAKSHAK, OPERATION VIJAY and OPERATION PARAKRAM. He commanded his Regiment as part of an Independent Armoured Brigade, an Armoured Brigade as part of a Strike Corps and an Infantry Division on the Western Borders. The General officer also has rich instructional & staff experience including appointments both in operational and administrative domain.
During his command of the Vajra Corps, the General officer enhanced the state of Operational preparedness by focusing on military training and jointness with other services, as also took various measures towards capability building and capacity enhancement. Various specialised military exercises were conducted in all formations of the Vajra Corps to enhance combat potential and operational efficiency. He also enhanced synergy with Border Security Force.
The General officer promoted regular interaction with Veterans, Veer Naaries and War Widows to ensure redressal welfare of Ex-Servicemen and their dependants. He brought focus to the immense contribution of the Veterans and the sacrifices of the brave hearts while reinforcing Vajra Corps commitment towards National Security. Under his guidance, ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ was celebrated with full fervour in the Corps zone spreading awareness of our glorious past which gave boost to our collective feeling of patriotism and pride for our glorious country. He also provided oversight on many AGNIVEER recruitment rallies conducted in Punjab with the aim to motivate the youth to join Indian Armed Forces.
Lieutenant General Vijay B Nair, who has taken over the command of Vajra Corps, is an alumnus of National Defence Academy and Indian Military Acadamy and was commissioned into PUNJAB Regiment in Jun 1988. In a distinguished career of over three and half decades, the officer has held many prestigious command and staff appointments.
