The Balidan Diwas of revolutionary freedom fighter Madan Lal Dhingra, who laid down his life on foreign soil this day, was commemorated here.
Chief guest, Mayor Vimal Thatai said that Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra belonged to an affluent family of Amritsar but chose to sacrifice his life for the sake of the nation. All the countrymen should be grateful to the martyrs, he said.
The program was organized by the Abohar branch of All India Arora Khatri Punjabi Community under the leadership of president Naresh Khurana near the Shaheed Chowk in Timber Market. Langar was served to hundreds of people on the occasion.
