PURUHIT URGES ROTARY CLUB TO INITIATES ENVIRONMENT RELATED ACTIVITIES LIKE PLANTATION DRIVE

Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh attended the Annual Installation of Rotary Club of Chandigarh as Chief Guest. Rtn Jatinder Kapur is the new Rotary Club Chandigarh's president.

 Speaking at the installation function at the CII, Shri Purohit complimented the outgoing team of Rotarians under Anil Chadda, who contributed immensely to the society with numerous humanitarian service projects including establishment of the human milk bank in Mohali. He expressed hope that the Club which has a rich legacy of commendable humanitarian service projects since 1958, shall continue to touch the lives of people in need.

Governor of Punjab accompanied with Past Rotary International President Rajendra K. Saboo, and guest of honour, District Governor Elect Ravi Parkash, went around an exhibition of abstract paintings by 20 local artists, 'Colours of Magic' which was curated by past presidents of the Club Neenu Vij, and Manmohan Singh Kohli.

Sh Purohit urged the Rotary Club to take up environment related activities like plantation drive in the city for the next year and gave example of ‘Ek Paudhaa Maa ke Naam’ a plantation drive held recently at Punjab Raj Bhavan.

Earlier the Governor of Punjab accompanied with Past Rotary International President Rajendra K. Saboo, and guest of honour, District Governor Elect Ravi Parkash, went around an exhibition of abstract paintings by 20 local artists, 'Colours of Magic' which was curated by past presidents of the Club Neenu Vij, and Manmohan Singh Kohli.

The Guest of Honour DGE Ravi Parkash said that Rotary Club Chandigarh has created magic in the club by initiating and completing numerous service projects that are landmarks not only in our country but in the entire Rotary world.

Past Rotary International President Rajendra K. Saboo blessed the new team and looked forward to many more projects that could serve the people in need.

The new Club President Jatinder Kapur shared his vision for his year and informed that the Club would be able to complete and open this Rs.1 crore project of Health Education Centre which is being established in collaboration with the Chandigarh Administration, that would be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to impart health education to the children.

The Club also intends to setup a mental health counselling centre as well as start a campaign to promote the human milk bank in Mohali which would need the support of the lactating mothers.

The function was attended by many prominent Rotarians of the region.
