CBI FILES FIFTH CHARGE SHEET IN NEET UG 2024 PATNA QUESTION PAPER THEFT CASE AGAINST FIVE ACCUSED; 45 ACCUSED CHARGESHEETED SO FAR IN THE CASE

The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a 5th chargesheet today i.e., on 22.11.2024 against five accused before the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge for CBI in Patna in connection with the NEET UG 2024 question paper theft case. The charge sheet has been filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy), 109 (Abetment), 409 (Criminal Breach of Trust), 420 (Cheating), 380 (Theft), 201 (Causing Disappearance of Evidence), and 411 (Dishonestly Receiving Stolen Property) and under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018). 

The 5 accused individuals chargesheeted are (1) Amit Kumar Singh R/o. Dhanbad (JH), (2) Sudip Kumar R/o. Bokaro, (3) Yuvraj Kumar R/o. Bokaro, (4) Abhimanyu Patel R/o. Nalanda and (5) Amit Kumar R/o. Patna. With this, total charge sheeted accused in this case stands at 45, and all of them are still in judicial custody. 

CBI had earlier filed four charge sheets on 01.08.2024, 19.09.2024, 05.10.2024 and 07.11.2024 against 40 other accused. CBI took over the investigation of Crime No. 358/2024 from Shastri Nagar Police Station, Patna on 23.06.2024. Names of the candidates, who are beneficiaries of the paper theft / unfair means and names of the MBBS student who had solved the stolen paper or who had appeared in exam as impersonators have already been identified and shared with NTA/Ministry of Education. 

Investigation is continuing.
