IIT ROPAR’S IHUB-AWADH INAUGURATES 10TH AWADH (CYBER PHYSICAL LAB) CPS LAB AT IIIT UNA: A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND FACILITY IN HIMACHAL

Marking a significant milestone in the advancement of education and technology, iHub-AWaDH, hosted at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM ICPS), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has inaugurated the AWaDH CPS Lab at the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Una, Himachal Pradesh.

This is the first such lab in Himachal Pradesh, reflecting the state’s growing emphasis on education and innovation. Himachal Pradesh is nestled amidst the serene hills and has long been recognized for its commitment to quality education and sustainable development. With the establishment of the AWaDH CPS Lab, the state takes another leap forward in advancing technological excellence.

The inauguration ceremony, held at IIIT Una, included a series of significant events that highlighted the importance of the AWaDH CPS Lab initiative. The event began with introductory remarks by Prof. Manish Gaur, Director of IIIT Una, setting the tone for the proceedings.

The keynote address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, emphasizing the transformative potential of the lab in advancing Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) education and research.

This was followed by an insightful overview of the AWaDH CPS Lab Initiative by Dr. Pushpendra P. Singh, Dean R&D IIT Ropar and Project Director of IIT Ropar-TIF AWaDH, who shared the vision and objectives of the collaboration. Dr. Radhika Trikha, CEO of IIT Ropar-TIF AWaDH, presented a detailed account of the initiative.

The ceremony concluded with the formal inauguration of the AWaDH CPS Lab, followed by a tour of the facility, offering 50+ attendees a glimpse of its state-of-the-art resources and infrastructure and a guided tour of the facility by our Project Manager Deshraj Dhiman along with the technical team. The lab aims to serve as a comprehensive platform for education, research, prototyping, testing, and collaboration.

The AWaDH CPS Lab serves as a platform for education, research, and skill development in Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS). With cutting-edge resources and innovative tools, the lab is equipped to deliver hands-on training and foster technical excellence.

The facility includes: 

● IoT Kits developed by IIT Ropar, offering 24/7 plug-and-play modules for experimentation. ● AI & ML Workstations by Terafac Technologies Pvt. Ltd. ● Voltera V-One for rapid prototyping and circuit design. ● Advanced environmental sensors for real-time monitoring and analysis.
