The Chandigarh Press Club Presisdent Mr. Nalin Acharya and Secretary General, Mr. Umesh Sharma, strongly condemns the Delhi Police for creating unnecessary hurdles for journalists from the region who were covering the Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections.

Delhi Police misbehaved with journalists in New Delhi. Despite showing their official IDs, journalists were stopped from reporting. Furthermore, they were detained at the police station overnight.

Such actions are a direct attack on press freedom and the fundamental right of journalists to report without fear or obstruction. The Chandigarh Press Club demands an immediate inquiry into the matter and urges authorities to ensure that media professionals can perform their duties without harassment or intimidation, added Umesh Sharma, Secretary-General.
