ONE SOPHISTICATED ILLEGAL FIREARMS WITH 05 LIVE CARTRIDGES RECOVERED THWART THE FIRING INCIDENT FOR EXTORTION IN DELHI WITH HIS ARREST

In a significant breakthrough, the NR-II Crime Branch team successfully apprehended a gang member and sharpshooter of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang following a well-planned operation. The team prevented a potential firing incident intended for extortion by arresting the sharpshooter, Harish. Additionally, 01 sophisticated semi-automatic pistol and 05 live cartridges recovered from his possession.
On 07.02.2025 secret information was received to HC Amit Rana that one shooter of Lawrence Bishnoi gang and close associate of Ankit Shehrsha would come to meet his other associates near T- point Ganda Nala road, Sector 24 Rohini for committing some incident and carry illegal firearms. On this information, a team led by Insp. Neeraj Sharma consisting SI Sachin Dabas, HC Amit Rana, HC Naveen and HC Vikas Dabas and under close supervision of ACP Sh. Narender Beniwal, was constituted by undersigned to nab criminal.
The team has laid down a trap near Ganda Nala road Sector 24 Rohini Delhi and at about 9.50 pm one person who was coming from Rithala side on Nala Road was identified as Harish by the informer. Raiding team waited for his other associates as per information but none came and after some time the identified person Harish was apprehended by the police party. On his search one semi-automatic pistol loaded with 05 live cartridges was recovered and accordingly a case U/s. 25/54/59 Arms Act got registered at PS Crime Branch.
Mr. Satish Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, said, during interrogation, the accused Harish, S/o Prakash, revealed that he studied up to the 10th grade in his village, where he came into contact with Ankit Shehrsha, who frequently visited the area because his aunt was married. Ankit Shehrsha persuaded the accused to join the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and under his guidance, Harish became a member. The accused communicated with Ankit Shehrsha through Instagram, knowing that Ankit had been arrested in connection with the murder of Sidhu Moosewala in Punjab, where he was the main shooter.

Harish remained in continuous contact with Ankit Shehrsha. In June 2023, under Ankit's direction, Harish, along with other associates, carried out a firing incident at a kirana shop in Shehrsha village as part of an extortion attempt and fled the scene. A month later, he was arrested, along with his associates, during Raksha Bandhan in Sonipat. While in Sonipat Jail, Harish met Sagar Rana, a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who was the primary arms supplier and a notorious gangster.
In February 2024, Harish was released on bail and resumed regular communication with both Sagar Rana and Ankit Shehrsha through Instagram. Sagar Rana instructed him to retrieve firearms from an ashram in his village. Around 10 days prior, Harish had met an unknown individual at the ashram, who handed him a recovered pistol and ammunition. Following this, Sagar Rana informed Harish to travel to Sector 24, Rohini, on February 7, 2025, where he would meet other associates to carry out a shooting in Delhi as per his instructions. After receiving the firearms, the accused destroyed his mobile phone, as directed by Sagar Rana.
The accused, Harish, S/o Prakash, aged 21, studied up to the 10th grade in his village. Aspiring to gain fame in the criminal world, he came into contact with Ankit Shehrsha through his friends, Chetan and Jasbir. Ankit Shehrsha influenced Harish to join the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Ankit was involved in the murder of Sidhu Moosewala alongside his associates for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and was subsequently arrested.
Harish remained in regular contact with Ankit Shehrsha through Instagram, even while Ankit was in jail. Acting on Ankit's instructions, Harish participated in a firing incident at a kirana store in Shehrsha village. As a result, he was arrested by the Haryana Police in August 2023. While in Sonipat Jail, Harish met Sagar Rana, another member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Harish continued to stay in touch with various gang members through his Instagram account.
