Divyang Cricket Council (DCCI) achieved significant milestone. Received recognition from Indian Paralympic Committee (PCI). Divyang Cricket Council (DCCI) has achieved a remarkable feat by receiving recognition from the Indian Paralympic Committee (PCI), the apex governing body dedicated to promoting and developing para sports in the country.

This recognition is a significant step that highlights DCCI's dedication to promote and foster cricket for persons with disabilities across the country. This recognition positions DCCI as an essential member of PCI, helping the cricket council to enhance its mission of inclusivity in sports.

Founded in 2021 under the guidance of Shri Jai Shah, the then Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), DCCI stands as the apex organization for four unique formats of Divyang cricket in India: blind cricket, deaf cricket, physically handicapped cricket and wheelchair cricket. Under the aegis of BCCI, DCCI serves as the umbrella organization for four prestigious cricket associations dedicated to differently abled cricket formats in India.

These associations include Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), Indian Deaf Cricket Association (IDCA), Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India (PCCAI) and Wheelchair Cricket Association of India (WCIA).

The establishment of DCCI was necessitated by the need for a consolidated platform to elevate the status of differently abled cricketers and provide them opportunities to showcase their abilities at national and international forums. The PCI recognition of DCCI is a landmark moment in the history of differently abled cricket in India, as these players will get a chance to play under the BCCI umbrella and represent India in established international competitions.

Being a recognized body by BCCI and PCI, DCCI conducts various tournaments and events under its umbrella, providing competitive opportunities for players in all formats of differently abled cricket. The council promotes collaboration among stakeholders such as players, coaches and cricket enthusiasts to strengthen the movement for differently abled cricket. BCCI has been actively supporting all the ventures of DCCI, which has resulted in the formation of a separate Divyang Cricket Committee comprising of Dr. Mahantesh G.K. for visually impaired cricket, Mr. Sumit Jain for deaf cricket and Mr. Ravikant Chauhan for physically disabled cricket.

After being recognised by PCI, DCCI has called upon all cricket lovers and well-wishers to come on this journey with them. Together, they hope to empower differently-abled cricketers to live their dreams and bring glory to the country. In the future, the organisation continues to ensure increased participation and support for the athletes, giving them the respect they deserve in the larger cricketing world.
